Purpose of Service
To provide search service for books, journals, or information that readers cannot find so that readers can successfully access the reading materials.
Eligibility
NCKU faculty members, staff, students, and non-NCKU library goers.
Book search
1. When you cannot find the desired book on the shelf even though the WebPAC system shows that the book is "Available" according to "Item Status" and is located in the NCKU Medical Library according to "Location", you can complete a book search request form at the Reference Desk on the first floor of the library, and a librarian will process your request accordingly.
2. You will receive an email once your requested book is ready. The book will be held at the Information Desk on the first floor for 7 days, after which the book will be reshelved should you fail to collect it by then.
3. If another reader locates the book before the librarian does, this reader will have priority over borrowing the book for one week, after which you will be notified to pick up the book.
4. A librarian will inform the reader of the search result three days after receiving the search request form and then continue to keep track of the search for three months. If the book cannot be located after three months, its "Item Status" will be changed to "Unknown" and a follow-up of the search will be continued.
5. You will also be notified if other units or departments have the same book you're looking for
6. If you are in urgent need of the book, you can borrow the book from other members of interlibrary cooperation organizations.
7. If the librarian is unable to locate the book after six months and you still need it, you can inform the librarian at the Information Desk on the first floor and the library will assess for the need to purchase the book.
Journal search:
1. Please check the on library website to confirm that the journal you need is a part of the library's collection and then complete a journal search request form at the Information Desk on the first floor. We will process your request accordingly.
2. You will receive an email once your request is ready for collection. The journal will be held at the Information Desk.
3. The journal will be held at the Information Desk for 7 days, after which it will be reshelved should you fail to collect it by then.
4. If the requested material cannot be located three days after receiving the search request form, We will inform you of the search result and then continue to keep track of the search for three months.
5. If you are in urgent need of the material, you can visit other members of interlibrary cooperation organizations to make photocopies of it.
